Soybeans Lower On Night Session

in Blog, soybeans

The soybean market is very quiet tonight on the night session trading lower by 4 cents with very little activity recorded. It seems to me that almost every single night the soybeans are lower and then rally to new highs later in the day, that is the sign of a bull market and vise versa in the opposite direction when commodities hit contract lows.

Can Silver Prices Break All Time Highs?

in Blog, copper, gold, platinum, silver

My question to investors and traders is how high can silver prices reach and can they break that $50 barrier that was hit earlier in the year, but then sold off dramatically? I saw what silver did last year when it went from $35 dollars an ounce to $50 bucks an ounce with out hardly any dips before collapsing back down to $30 dollars.

Milk Futures Rally But Settle On Lows

in Blog, milk

Milk futures rallied sharply in early trading higher by more than 20 points to trade at 15.50 before profit taking hit the market and ended up settling at 15.20 lower by 5 points near the lows of the day. I think milk prices are bottoming and 4 days ago could have formed a spike low for milk prices in the short term.

Do You Over Trade Your Account?

in Blog, over trading

This rule is simple Do Not OVERTRADE EVER for this is an easy way to lose all your capital quickly. My definition of over trading is risking too much money on any given trade, for example if you are trading a $100,000 dollar account and you place a gold trade today you should limit your loses to 2% of the account value which in this case is $2,000 which allows you to be wrong on many trades and still be around to play another day.

Has Lumber Entered Into A Bull Market?

in Blog, lumber

Lumber prices have been in a general grinding bear market over the last several years, however it might be time to get bullish with the economy improving so maybe lumber prices might start a new bull market. The May contract is right near its contract high of around 280 and the current price is around 272 per board feet so any break out over contract highs could propel lumber prices near the 350 range.

Has Coffee Bottomed Going Into Frost Season?

in Blog, coffee

Coffee futures were percolating today trading higher by just 100 points to close around 205.40 a pound still near contract lows. This market is one of the only few bear markets around including milk and natural gas prices all to the downside. I believe coffee prices are near the lows because coffee will be entering frost season in the month of May where I have seen some crazy moves to the upside in just a matter of days.

When Do You Exit A Trade?

in Blog, exiting a trade

The biggest question that I have been asked is when do I exit a winning trade and when do I exit a losing trade? The rule of thumb that I use is placing my stop loss at the ten day high if I am short or a 10 day low if I am long. The other rule of thumb is to place your stop loss at the 2% maximun loss allowed in your account for any given trade. If you have any questions please call me at 800-615-7649 and I will review many basic trading rules with you.
