Feeder Cattle & Cattle Higher; Hogs Make Contract Lows

Meat Futures--- The meat futures today ended slightly higher with feeder cattle leading the charge finishing up 80 points to close at 153.275 a pound with live cattle also finishing higher only by 40 points to close around 125 a pound in a very light trading session.

Feeder Cattle & Cattle Higher Today

The meat futures today in Chicago were higher across the board with feeder cattle futures climbing 110 points while live cattle futures climbed 87 points to close around 126.45 a pound in the April contract. Lean hogs had a quiet session ending up seven points to close around 87.42 in light trade in Chicago.

Cattle Herd Lowest Since 1952

It was announced over the weekend that the cattle herd is the lowest since 1952 which is why feeder cattle continues to hit all time highs nearly every single day. Look also at cattle and hogs prices climbing at the stores due to low supplies. Also the human population is much higher than in 1952 which could put meat prices even much higher.The bull markets in most markets are coming back and I think will continue, however you do get down days due to Europe such as today.
