What do traders mean when they talk about seasonality and its effects on commodity prices? The definition of seasonality states that a characteristic of a certain time when the data experiences regular and predictable changes which occur every calendar year and in a time series that reoccurs or repeats over one year can be said to be seasonal.

What Is An Island Top ?

in Blog, Bonds, commodities, currencies, futures trading, Mike Seery

What Is An Island Top ? An island reversal is a reversal pattern that forms with two gaps and price action in between the two gaps. These gaps tell us that the island reversal marks a sudden, and sharp, shift in direction.

Even though they are relatively uncommon, island reversals are potent patterns that warrant our attention.  The alignment of the gaps holds the key.

What Is A Double Top ? Look At Mexican Peso

in Blog, Bonds, commodities, currencies, futures trading, Mike Seery

Double Top ---The double-top pattern is found at the peaks of an upward trend and is a clear signal that the preceding upward trend is weakening and that buyers are losing interest.

Upon completion of this pattern, the trend is considered to be reversed and the security is expected to move lower.

in Blog, Bonds, commodities, currencies, futures trading, Mike Seery

Mexican Peso Futures--- The Mexican Peso in the December contract settled last Friday at 5174 while currently trading at 5185 basically unchanged for the trading week as I have been recommending a short position over the last 2 months with an average price of around 5330 & if you took that trade continue to place the stop loss which was Thursday's high of 5238 as the chart structure is excellent due to the fact of low volatility.

What Does Risk Management Mean To You?

in Blog, Bonds, commodities, currencies, futures trading, Mike Seery

What Does Risk Management Mean To You? I generally tell people that the reason people lose money in commodities is not due to the fact that they are bad at predicting where prices are headed, however they are bad when it comes to losing trades and refusing to take a loss which results for heavy monetary losses that are difficult to come back from.

Mexican Peso Up 30 Points

in Blog, Bonds, commodities, currencies, futures trading, Mike Seery

Mexican Peso Futures---The Mexican Peso in the December contract is higher by 30 points currently trading at 5177 as I have been recommending a bearish position originally from the 5421 level then recommending adding another position around 5240 & if you took those trades the stop loss has now been lowered to 5276 as the chart structure will improve on a daily basis therefore the monetary risk will be lowered.

Gold Futures--- Gold futures in the December contract are unchanged to start out the week at 1,272 an ounce in a very quiet trade as prices still look to retest the October 6th low of 1,262 & if that is broken I think we will head down to the 1,250 area in the coming days ahead as the U.S dollar is down around 30 points in today's trade, but still right near a 3 month high putting pressure on all of the metals recently.
