Soybeans Higher--Wheat & Corn Lower

Grain Futures--- The grain market was mixed today with soybeans in the July contract which I’ve talked about in previous blogs that there is the possibility of a short squeeze in the old crop soybeans due to the fact that carryover levels or supply are at extremely low levels and if you look at the May contract it exploded in its last several trading days settling around 15.30 also helping to push July soybeans up another $.15 today at 14.28 a bushe

Gold Prices Continue Bearish Trend

Precious Metal Futures-- The precious metals were mixed today with gold down another $11 after finishing $33 lower yesterday continuing its downtrend currently trading at 1,386 an ounce hitting a 4 week low and now looking to retest the lows which happened on April 16th at 1,321 as investors continue to sell gold and are putting money in the stock market which is having another record day today.

When Should You Enter A New Trade?

  When Do You Enter A Trade?    What are your rules to initiate a trade on the long or short side of the commodity market? I have been asked this question many times throughout my career and my opinion is simply to buy on a 20-25 day high breakout in price on a closing basis only or sell on a 20-25 day low breakout to the downside also on a closing basis.

Could There Be A Short Squeeze In The July Soybeans?

Grain Futures--- The grain market was mixed this afternoon after yesterday’s crop planting report coming out showing what exactly what has been planted up to date and I will show those figures at the bottom of this blog as November soybeans were slightly higher today at 12.15 of bushel with the report basically stating what traders expected while many of the commodity markets were mixed, however the U.S dollar hit new contract high

Have The Bonds Entered A Bear Market?

5 Year Notes—The Five-year notes sold off for the 4th straight trading session down another 2 ticks at 123.28 with the possibility of an all-time high double top occurring last month now trading below its 20 & 100 day moving average hitting a fresh 5 week low as investors are finally rotating out of bonds and putting those funds into the stock market which is hitting all-time highs again today.

What Did The USDA Planting Report Say?

U.S. corn crop is 28% planted vs. 65% average and 85% last year.  IL=17% and IA=15%

U.S. corn crop is 5% emerged vs. 28% average and 52% last year.

U.S. bean crop is 6% planted vs. 24% average and 43% last year.  IL=0% and IA=1%

U.S. winter wheat crop is 29% headed vs. 51% average and 73% last year.

Winter wheat condition was unchanged at 32% G/E.
