Copper Futures-- Copper futures have been in a very interesting sideways consolidation for the last 10 weeks before breaking through support on Monday’s trading session closing at 371.40 a pound creating a new 10 week low.

Have The Cattle & Hog Markets Bottomed?

Meat Futures--- A wild trading day in the cattle markets today with live cattle for the April contract hitting a fresh contract low earlier the trading session at 117.125 before ripping higher to finish up by 215 points to close at 119.90 a pound and in my opinion it looks like a short term bottom has been made in the live cattle futures chart.

Sugar Prices Higher

Sugar Futures--- Sugar futures for the May contract finished up only 10 points today in a very lack lustre trade in New York closing at 23.95 a pound after yesterday sharp selloff creating a three week low. Sugar futures are right on the upward trend line and if today's lows are broken the trend line will also be broken which will most likely put sugar prices into a bear market like the rest of the soft commodities.

Coffee Prices Slightly Higher

Coffee Futures--- Coffee futures traded in a very quiet range today finishing up around 200 points settling at 180.65 in the May contract still stuck in a tight trading range of 175 – 190 for the last four weeks looking for new fundamental news to break out of this range.

Cotton Higher By 165 Points Today

Cotton Futures-- Cotton futures today traded in a wild range with the May contract trading at limit up 300 points at one point during the trading session before settling up 1.65 to close at 91.38 in heavy volume in New York today, however the December contract which is considered the new crop which will be harvested this fall was down 21 points making a fresh three-month low closing 87.11 a bale.

 Grain Futures-- The grain futures this afternoon traded in a very tight range with May soybeans down only 6 cents closing around 14.20 a bushel while May corn finished up only one penny at 6.34 a bushel in an extremely quiet trading session here in Chicago today.

Precious Metals Slightly Lower Today

Precious Metal Futures-- The precious metals traded very quietly in New York today with gold basically finishing unchanged for the day to close at 1, 660 an ounce while silver futures finished down only $.15 cents closing around $31.53 an ounce in a very nonvolatile trade for a change while platinum futures finished down 9 dollars continuing their bearish momentum finishing around 1, 585 which was also a three-month low.

Gold Explodes On Flight To Quality

Precious Metal Futures-- Precious metal futures had a wild trading day today with gold opening up sharply higher only to make new lows only to rally sharply at the end of the trading session ending higher by $19 dollars to close at $1,663 an ounce in heavy volume in New York while silver futures finished up only 15 cents to close at 31.66 an ounce.
