How Low Are Wheat Prices Going ?

in Blog, commodity consulting, commodity trading, corn, futures, Mike Seery, oats, option trading, seeryfutures, soybean meal, soybean oil, soybeans, wheat

Wheat Futures---Wheat futures in the March contract settled last Friday in Chicago at 4.38 a bushel while currently trading at 4.24 down about $0.14 for the trading week hitting another contract low as this bearish trend continues on a month-to-month basis, as I am currently not involved in this market, but if you are short a futures contract place the stop loss at the 10 day high standing at 4.43 as an exit strategy.

Are Lumber Prices Going Lower ?

in Blog, coffee futures, commodity trading, cotton futures, futures trading, lumber futures, Mike Seery, orange juice futures, seeryfutures, sugar futures

Lumber Futures---Lumber futures in the January contract finished slightly higher currently at 426.00 per board foot as I am now recommending a short position in this market which I have not talked about for quite some time, but the risk/reward are in your favor in my opinion while placing the stop loss above the 10 day high standing at 439 risking around $1,400 per contract plus slippage and commission.

in Blog, commodity trading, copper futures, futures trading, gold futures, Mike Seery, palladium futures, platinum futures, seeryfutures, silver futures

Gold Futures--- Gold futures in the February contract are down another $13 at 1,253 an ounce right near a 5 month low as I was recommending a bullish position getting stopped out in last weeks trade when prices hit a 2 week as that's how far prices have continued to drop as the whole precious metal sector has turned very bearish in the short-term.

Take A Look At Orange Juice

in Blog, coffee futures, commodity trading, cotton futures, futures trading, Mike Seery, orange juice futures, seeryfutures, sugar futures

Orange Juice Futures--- Orange juice futures in the January contract hit a 4 week low in today's trade down 435 points at 157.70 as this trend has turned bearish on warmer weather forecasts for the state of Florida as we enter the very volatile frost season which could spike prices up tremendously in a matter of weeks if a frost occurs therefore reducing yields.

When Should You Exit A Trade ? Sugar & Crude Today

in Blog, Bonds, commodities, currencies, futures trading, Mike Seery

WHEN DO YOU EXIT A TRADE ?-- The biggest question that I have been asked is when do I exit a winning trade and when do I exit a losing trade? In my opinion the rule of thumb that I use is placing my stop loss at the 10 day high if I’m short or a 10 day low if I’m long as the theory is that I do not want something to go against me for more than 2 weeks.

Cattle Prices Down 5th Day In A Row

in Blog, commodity trading, feeder cattle futures, futures trading, Lean hog futures, live cattle futures, livestock futures, Mike Seery, milk futures, seeryfutures

Live Cattle Futures--- Live cattle futures in the February contract are trading lower for the 5th consecutive session down another 125 points at 119.27 right near an 8 week low continuing its short-term bearish momentum after prices topped out just 1 month ago on November 6th at 131.95 as I'm currently sitting on the sidelines as the chart structure is poor therefore the risk/reward are not in your favor.

Do You Understand Seasonality ?

in Blog, Bonds, commodities, currencies, futures trading, Mike Seery

What do traders mean when they talk about seasonality and its effects on commodity prices? The definition of seasonality states that a characteristic of a certain time when the data experiences regular and predictable changes which occur every calendar year and in a time series that reoccurs or repeats over one year can be said to be seasonal.
