Silver Prices Look Interesting

in Blog, commodity consulting, commodity trading, copper futures, futures broker, gold futures, Michael Seery, options broker, palladium futures, platinum futures, Seery Futures.com, silver futures

Silver Futures---Silver futures in the December contract settled last Friday in New York at 17.49 an ounce while currently trading at 17.80 up about 30 cents for the trading week still stuck in a tight 3 week consolidation. Silver prices are trading above their 20 but still below their 100 day moving average telling you that the trend is mixed as the U.S dollar is near an 8 month high keeping a lid on silver prices in the short term.

Silver Futures--- Silver futures in the December contract settled last Friday in New York at 17.44 an ounce while currently trading at 17.51 basically unchanged with very little volatility over the last several weeks which is unusual in silver as historically speaking this is one of the most volatile commodities day in and day out.

What Is Your Definition Of Adding To A Losing Position?

in bear put spreads, Blog, bull call spreads, call options, commodity consulting, commodity trading, commodity trading rules, futures broker, managed futures, managed futures accounts, Michael Seery, options broker, put options, Seery Futures.com, simulated trading

TRADING THEORY----My rule for adding to a losing trade differs from mainstream thinking because for this reason that if you buy soybeans and the trade goes against you adding to this trade would be adding to a loser, which is correct. However many traders won’t add to the soybean long position but they will buy gold or some other commodity without getting out of soybeans first.

Corn Futures--- Corn futures in the December contract are currently trading lower by 2 cents in Chicago at 3.51 a bushel as I’ve been recommending a bullish position from around the 3.40 level and if you took that trade continue to place your stop loss at the 10 day low which now stands at 3.36 as the chart structure will not improve for another 6 days so you’re going to have to accept the monetary risk at this point.

When Do You Enter Into A Trade?

in bear put spreads, Blog, bull call spreads, call options, commodity consulting, commodity trading, commodity trading rules, futures broker, managed futures, managed futures accounts, Michael Seery, options broker, put options, Seery Futures.com, simulated trading

What are your rules to initiate a trade on the long or short side of the commodity market? I have been asked this question many times throughout my career and my opinion is simply to buy on a 20-25 day high breakout in price on a closing basis only or sell on a 20-25 day low breakout to the downside also on a closing basis.

Trade With The Trend

in bear put spreads, Blog, bull call spreads, call options, commodity consulting, commodity trading, commodity trading rules, futures broker, managed futures, managed futures accounts, Michael Seery, options broker, put options, Seery Futures.com, simulated trading

TRADING THEORY---Trade with the short term trend, as the saying goes in futures trading the trend is your friend but sometimes you will be a market that is trending higher and then has a false breakout to the upside and then suddenly sells off causing you a 2% loss on your equity and you say to yourself that was a bad trade and should I do something different on my next trade.
