Closing Commodity Comments For 6-22-12

Grain Futures--- The corn market this week soared on speculation of the U.S drought cutting production causing prices to nearly shoot up .50 cents a bushel in the December contract which we harvest this fall to currently trade around 5.57 a bushel going into the weekend as traders are nervous about how much rain is forecast for the next 7 to 10 day forecast while soybeans also finished the week up about 50 cents currently trading at 13.74 of bushel

Coffee Futures--- Coffee futures today in New York are down another 360 points right near session lows at 149.80 a pound in the July contract creating a new 2 ½ year low also making a fresh contract low continuing its grinding bearish momentum which in my opinion will continue to head lower possibly into the mid-130s within the next month or so due to the fact of a lack of demand and an ample supply at this time.

Gold Futures--- Gold futures were higher for the 3rd consecutive trading session closing higher by another $17 dollars an ounce in the August contract to close right around 1,614 near session highs gaining more momentum as investors flock to the precious metal as a safe haven using gold as a currency.

Coffee Futures--- Coffee futures today in New York settled right near session lows down 160 points to close at 154.00 pound in the July contract creating a new 2 year low also making a fresh contract low continuing its grinding bearish momentum which in my opinion will continue to head lower possibly into the mid-130s within the next month or so due to the fact of a lack of demand and an ample supply at this time.

 Precious Metal Futures---The precious metals this week  had an absolutely wild ride with tremendous swings to the upside as well as huge plunges to the downside currently about to finish the week right around 1,590 rallying $35 dollars from session lows today to finish higher by $3 dollars trading as low as 1,556 early Friday morning session and trading at highs of almost 1,642 just a couple of days ago basically last week with $100 dolla

 Cotton Futures--- Cotton futures this morning are plunging to a fresh 31 month low on concerns that China is slowing down more rapidly than what was being reported causing cotton prices which are only down 30 points at this time that I write the article at 67.30 a bale but has rallied sharply off the session lows which at one point traded as low as 64.61 which are new contract lows as well.

 Precious Metal Futures--- WOW--Gold finishes higher by nearly $60 dollars an ounce on European concerns while the precious metals today were sharply lower across the board early in the morning reacting to the chaos that's going on overseas in Europe with gold down $14 dollars at 1,550 an ounce possibly looking at retesting 1,530 level but then exploded higher by 58 dollars at 1,623 now  breaking

 Precious Metal Futures---The precious metals futures this morning are quiet with anticipation of tomorrow's monthly unemployment report 7:30 AM central time, however the ADP report came out today and stated that the private sector added 133, 000 new jobs in the prior month but the market reacted very quietly to the news with gold futures for the June contract up one dollar at 1,565 an ounce while silver futures for the July contract curren

 Precious Metal Futures--- The precious metals today had a wild trading session with gold earlier in the trading session trading as high as 1,583 an ounce before plummeting later in the day finishing down 14 dollars to close at 1,555 blamed on the Euro currency selling off making 22 month lows while the U.S dollar reversed earlier losses to finish slightly higher for the trading session.
