Coffee Hits Contract Lows: Sugar Down As Well

Coffee futures for March delivery settled 300 points lower to close at 212.30 after hitting fresh contract lows of 210.00 earlier in the trading session. The next level of support is around 200.50 in the March contract. This market remains very weak despite other commodities being strong today and did not  help or benefit coffee to turn positive. Sugar futures remain in there sideways channel finishing down 15 points to close around 24.54 in another quiet say for sugar.

Milk Down On Profit Taking: Contract Specs Listed

Milk futures reversal last Fridays gains by selling off 21 points to close around 15.41 for the March delivery. For any hedgers or traders below is the contract specifications that give you the details about the size of the contract. Look for continued sideways action for the next couple of weeks before prices in my opinion move higher.

Cattle Prices Up Near Contract Highs

 Positive day for the cattle markets with feeder cattle closing higher by 90 points to close around 154.55 still clinging right near all-time highs. Live cattle for April finished higher by 132 points closing near 128.10 still flirting with contract highs but having a very difficult time breaking out to the upside. Hog futures for April were down only 10 points in quiet trade in Chicago.

Mixed Trading Day For Metals

Gold futures finished  near unchanged in a volatile trade today finishing near 1,726 an ounce. Gold traded negative and positive during the trading session only to finish unchanged. Silver futures for March delivery were higher by only 10 cents to close around 33.70 an ounce. Copper futures were lower by 200 points to close around 384.50 in a quiet trade today.

Crude Oil Rallies Sharply !

Crude oil futures rallied sharply today closing higher by $1.75 to close near 100.40 a barrel which is a 2 week high but still over $3 dollars away to be able to hit contract highs. Unleaded gasoline continues its bull trend by ending higher by almost 3 cents to close at 2.00 a gallon. Heating oil was weaker today blamed on unwinding of spreads to close lower by 2 cents at 3.16 a gallon.

Soybeans Rally To 4 Month Highs

Soybeans for March delivery soared 24 cents higher today closing around 12.53 a bushel and closing at 4 month highs. The soybeans have been a very choppy market in the last 2 months and if you held on to your long position it is starting to pay you off.

Coffee Makes Contract Lows Down 500 Points

Coffee prices are down 500 points and currently trading at contract lows for the March contract. Most of the commodities are higher this morning except for coffee which shows how bearish this market has become. The next level of support is the 2.01 area which is still about 10 full points away.

Soybeans Re-Testing Highs

Soybeans open higher with a weaker dollar and general bullishness in the commodity sector. March soybeans are up 11 cents currently trading at 12.39 a bushel. Last weeks high of 12.47 might be re tested tonight or tomorrow. Corn and wheat are higher by only 3 cents after a sharp sell off last week. Oat futures remain strong opening higher by 2 cents trading at 3.20 a bushel.

Dollar Lower: Commodities Higher

The U.S  dollar is trading lower tonight on the night session with the euro currency surging more than 70 points and the other foreign currencies are higher as well. The commodity sector is higher as crude oil is up by 80 cents and gold up over 4 dollars. The grain market opens at 6pm ct. The S&P is higher by 5 points trading at 1345.50.
